The wisdom of buying camping cookware and utensils that are made from high quality materials lies in the fact that it is a long-term investment, preventing you from having to buy a new set every now and then. The most commonly used material for cookware and utensils is aluminum, chosen for its excellent quality. Aside from being inexpensive, aluminum is favored because of its light weight and conduction abilities. Slow cooking is generally the favored option in camping because it would give campers the chance to sit around the fire and tell stories. Aluminum will keep the meal cooking because of its heat-conducting qualities. Stainless steel can also be a good material. It lacks the excellent heat conducting qualities of aluminum but is a stronger than aluminum.

Stainless steel cookware is the preferred option for meals that have to be cooked in high heat and for a longer time. When it comes to durability, titanium is at the top of the heap when it comes to

cookware

. Titanium does not cook as well as stainless steel although it is, indeed, stronger. These materials - titanium and stainless steel - do not come cheap. But when they are used in camping cookware and utensils, you can be sure that they will last for a long time. Everything in a camp need to be an easy thing to handle, that goes for setting camp, to cooking of food and cleaning the utensils and cookware. Therefore, you need to consider buying utensils and cookware that have high non-stick properties.

The non-stick coating depends on the material that the cookware are actually made of. The non-stick coating will facilitate cooking by preventing the food from sticking to the pan. It will also facilitate cleaning of the cookware afterwards. You should bear in mind that the coating are somewhat delicate and can easily scratch. Keeping your camping gear light can be a challenge, but it is something that you should attempt. That means packing items that are important and are lightweight. Choosing to bring plastic cutlery is one way to even out the imbalance that is caused by the heavy metal cookware that you have to bring. They are cheap and come in various sizes. You should also get plastic containers aside from the plastic cutlery.

On the same note of light packing, you can opt to be creative the most of the items you carry. Instead of many utensils, you can choose one or two that can do many functions. Instead of getting ten small plates for ten people, you can opt to get four large trays and have two or three people eating together in one tray. Even the lids of pots can be used as plates. Instead of pot lids, you can use frying pans to cover them. You can cook meals in one large pot, then use it again to boil water afterwards, or use it to make tea in the morning. No need to get more than one pot. Feel free to use your hands when it comes to eating and have one or two variations of serving spoons.

Now that you know exactly what type of utensils or cookware you are going to buy, how many of them will you get? This gives you two viable options; buying a set or one piece. You will cut cost if buy a set and intend to use the other pieces at home and use the other when you are camping. The other option is to buy one piece at a time, picking cookware or utensils in singles governed by the apparent need at the camp. You will get a lot of benefit from these utensils and cookware, but they will differ accordingly with the type of camping that you will be doing.
